Top iPhone App Under Scrutiny for Inadequate Privacy Settings

It was recently revealed in a media investigation that one of the world’s most popular app, Tik Tok, employed sub-standard privacy measures which led to the exposure of the personal data of children in Hong Kong as young as nine years old.

The $20 billion company, which is considered a tech pioneer, is said to have in place protections significantly inferior to its rivals Facebook and Instagram according to Hong Kong Information Technology Federation councillor Eric Fan Kin-man who tested the app.

Its sister app, Musical.ly, had already been put under fire in the US and Australia for not being able to protect minors from online harassment.
