Another Privacy Complaint Filed Against Freelancer.com

A European account holder recently filed a $60,000 complaint against Freelancer.com with the Office of Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), alleging that the company had breached the Privacy Act and Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act.

The complainant said that requesting personally identifiable information after the service was provided instead of before, and for allowing the account holder to continue providing a service using an unidentified account.

However, it was said that the complaint may not prosper, based on the result of a previous lawsuit by another European user where the OAIC’s decision was overturned in favor of Freelancer.
