11 Jul Australian Legal Funder May Slap Facebook with Privacy Suit
It was revealed this week that litigation funder IMF Bentham Ltd may sue Facebook in Australia for sharing users’ data with political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.
IMF has already filed a complaint with the Australian Information Commissioner alleging breaches of privacy laws over the data sharing and said that they may pursue a class action lawsuit seeking compensation for users, depending on the regulator’s response.
IMF Bentham investment manager Nathan Landis said the firm already had a prime litigant who does not with to be revealed. Facebook on the other hand says they are already fully cooperating with the investigation being done by the Australian Privacy Commissioner.
