Austrian Activist Files Data Privacy Complaint Against US Tech Giants

Activist lawyer Max Schrems of non-profit NOYB recently filed a complaint against tech giants Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube for allegedly not complying with the GDPR in Austria.

Noyb said in its statement that the companies had failed to provide their users the exact data they wish to have access to. Most even set up automated systems to respond to access requests to withhold relevant information.

Amazon responded by saying that it complies with any request from a data subject to provide access to the personal data that the company processes, while Spotify said that its policies on data privacy are fully compliant with the GDPR.
