Baguio Councilor Pushes for Data Privacy Awareness

Baguio City Councilor Arthur Allad-iw recently proposed that the last week of May of every year be spent in celebration of national data privacy awareness in the city.

The alderman said that the new law not only seeks to make the celebration of the National Data Privacy Awareness Week a regular activity of the city government, it should also assure the funding needed for the implementation of programs and weeklong activities.

Allad-iw reminded that privacy is a fundamental human right which is necessary for the protection of human dignity and reinforces other rights, such as freedom of expression, information and association.
