Facebook Quiz App Maker Exposed Data of 120 Million Users

A Facebook quiz app developer called NameTests has been reported to have compromised the personal data of around 120 million users due to a security flaw.

In a Medium post, hacker Inti De Ceukelaire revealed that the developer’s quizzes collected user information such as names, birthdays, photos, and friend lists and displayed them in a JavaScript file that was vulnerable to interception by malicious third parties.

Ceukelaire said that he had notified Facebook about the problem and was assured multiple times that they would look into it. However, Ceukelaire noticed that NameTests fixed the flaw just this June, only after Facebook came under heavy scrutiny brought by the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
