GasBuddy Lawsuit Reveals Price of Location Data

A 2017 lawsuit involving GasBuddy and Reveal Mobile recently showed how much location data is being sold in the marketing industry at present.

Court documents showed that GasBuddy sold information including user latitude, longitude, IP address and time stamps gathered via its app to Reveal Mobile at $9.50 per 1000 users.

It was also noted that the GasBuddy app, which already has more than 10 million installs on Android, uses location data even when closed.
