03 Oct Hackers Hit Toyota North America, Access Healthcare, Personal Information
It was reported this week that Toyota Industries North America had been hit by hackers who were able to access personal and protected healthcare data.
Toyota said that it learned of the breach in August that an unauthorized party had tapped into the corporate email system and was able to access data such as health insurance information, names, home addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers and financial information of around 19,000 individuals.
Affected employees were told that Toyota is not aware of any theft or misuse of personal information, but the company will nevertheless be offering one year of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
