12 Dec HP Releases Emergency Patch for Pre-Installed Keylogger
Hewlett Packard recently released an emergency fix for a driver-level keylogger that came pre-installed in a number of HP laptop and tablet models.
The bug in the Synaptics TouchPad driver, which was discovered by security researcher Michael Myng, was not enabled by default. However, it can be enabled through the registry and can potentially be exploited by an attacker using a malware to log keystrokes.
A fix which was included in a driver and firmware update had been released for affected models including HP G2 Notebooks, the HP Elite x2 1011 G1 tablet, HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, and HP ZBook models.
