Jawbone Founder Says Customers Have Liberty To Delete Their Fitness Data

Fitness tracker Jawbone stated that customers have every right to do as they please with their data, whether they want it deleted, returned, or transferred.

The question was raised after customers learned that the Jawbone UP tracker company will be using its assets to pay off FitBit over an ongoing lawsuit on manufacturing problems, as well as customer issues over poor service.

Co-founder Hosain Rahman assured users that their data will be transferred to its succeeding company, Jawbone Health. He said customers just need to ask them about how to get or delete their data if they wish to have it removed.

He gave a link where customers can send personal requests to ask for copies of their fitness records or have them deleted: jawbone.com/contact.

The incident is seen as a warning to thoroughly scrutinize fitness tracker policies, particularly its privacy policies, before agreeing to use the app.
