International Privacy Body Grants Voting Seat to Philippines

The National Privacy Commission said this week that it was able to secure a voting seat at the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners (ICDPPC).

As a young member of the 5-member executive committee, the Philippines will have the privilege to  contribute in addressing challenges that privacy regulators face, said NPC chief Raymund Enriquez Liboro. He added that it will also be a good learning opportunity for the NPC which has been a member of the ICDPPC since October 2016.  

French Privacy Commissioner and outgoing ICDPPC chair Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, who welcomed the Philippines as a new member of the committee, said that the geographical diversification of the Executive Committee means that new entities will be able to bringing energy and new ideas to the group.
