Major Cyber Attack Hits Singapore’s Health Database

Singapore’s government revealed this week that a major cyber attack had hit the city-state’s health database which led to the theft of the personal information of 1.5 million citizens.

The government added that the attack was by far the most serious breach of personal data in Singapore. Investigations by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the Integrated Health Information System (IHiS) showed that the cyber attack was deliberate, targeted and well-planned.

It was also determined in the investigation that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s personal particulars and information on his outpatient dispensed medicines had repeatedly been targeted.
