19 Jul MP Reveals Harvested Facebook Data was Accessed by Russians
Conservative MP Damian Collins said this week that the Facebook data harvested by Cambridge Analytica researcher Aleksandr Kogan had been accessed in Russia and other countries.
Collins, who leads a British parliamentary investigation into online disinformation, says that the ICO discovery revealed that “some of the systems linked to the investigation were accessed from IP addresses that resolve to Russia and other areas of the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States]”. However, it was not specified in the report what data was accessed.
The ICO also said that Kogan refused to be interviewed by them. The regulator further revealed that it is planning to do an audit of the Psychometrics Centre at the University of Cambridge where Kogan had worked previously.
