New Mexico Files Privacy Lawsuit Against Google, Twitter, App Makers

New Mexico had reportedly filed a suit last Tuesday against Google, Twitter and mobile gaming app companies for illegally collecting the personal data of children.

New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas says that the apps can accurately track the location of underaged users. The partnership between the tech giants and app developers also brings the risk of a data breach and access by third parties that may seek to exploit the children of New Mexico.

However, Google says that apps that make it into their family program must first comply with federal law and policies that address age-appropriate ads and privacy disclosures. Twitter, meanwhile said that it had suspended the company and app Tiny Lab from its MoPub platform for violating its child-directed apps policies.
