New Rewards App Tracks User Location in Exchange for Discounts and Deals

A Silicon Valley startup launched a rewards-based app this week called Miles which allows users to rack up transportation miles and exchange them for various deals and discounts.

The app will monitor all the different modes of ground transportation the users uses each day. It will even reward those who use greener transportation methods with a bigger multiplier for miles earned.

However, the app will have to constantly access the user’s location to earn miles. The company says that the app will gather information such as where and when people move, how they got there, and even why they moved in the first place. CEO Jigar Shah says their goal is to get deals in front of customers when they are “most receptive by allowing businesses the immediate future of their customers.
