Twinning App Leaks Images From Unsecured Server

TechCrunch recently discovered that a popular app called “Twinning” had been leaking user-submitted images due to an unsecured Amazon Web Services storage bucket.

The app, made by PopSugar, uses facial recognition to find celebrity look alikes based on user photos. However, TechCrunch said that the user submitted had been searchable on Google and even downloadable in bulk for sometime, as PopSugar only plugged the leak recently.

LifeHacker said that new apps such as Twinning which collect personal information are likely to run a risk of a privacy leak, and it is a good idea to just avoid them altogether.
